S. Korea's daily COVID cases highest since Feb 29

The number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus in South Korea on Thursday landed at 689, marking the nation's highest daily rise in cases since February 29 and second highest since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the data aggregated by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), APA reports citing Teletrader.

After the newly recorded infections are included, the country's total adds up to 40,786, with the number of deaths attributed to the virus increasing to 572, rising by 8 over the course of the day.

Meanwhile, another 520 people were released from quarantine after making a full recovery, which brought South Korea's total number of recoveries to 31,157, according to the KCDC.
