Militants kill two paramilitary troops in NW Pakistan
Local officials told Press TV that a patrol car used by the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers came under attack in the village of Nala, near Bara in the Khyber tribal region early on Saturday.
A paramilitary soldier was killed and five others wounded during the shootout.
Law enforcement forces cordoned off the area after the incident and transported the injured paramilitary troops to a local hospital to receive treatment.
Later in the day, militants armed with assault rifles attacked a police station in the same region, killing a paramilitary soldier.
The attackers fled the scene and their whereabouts are unknown.
There have been no claims of responsibility for either of the two attacks.
Meanwhile, five militants were killed on Saturday when a bomb that they were preparing at their hideout in the Sarghar area of the Khyber tribal region exploded prematurely.
Despite the Pakistani government’s operations against militants and terrorists, they have still been able to spread their influence in various regions of the country and have killed thousands of people.
Over 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001, when Pakistan entered an alliance with the United States in the so-called war on terror, according to local media.
Thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping across the country.
