Unrest occurs in the Khuzestan province of Iran, 3 died, 49 arrested

There is a former officer of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards (SEPAH) among arrested. Reported that three of died were killed as a result of torturing in prison.

The cause of the riot served as a call for youth groups to boycott the upcoming March parliamentary elections in Iran. A group of young people in the Shus city pasted on the walls leaflets calling not to participate in the elections.

Thus, police raided the homes of several young activists and arrested some of them. In response, the city’s population clashed with police. The unrest spread to the city Hamadiyye, where police also carried out arrests of activists.
