Baku-APA. A vehicle carrying a number of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) personnel struck an explosive landmine on Friday in northwestern Iran and its six troops including a colonel were killed, APA reports quoting semi-official Mehr news agency.

The IRGC personnel were killed in the Alvatan region near the Kurdish city of Sardasht bordering Iraq, as their vehicle hit the landmine laid by the Kurdish militants of the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK), said the report.

On Sunday, the local media said that IRGC killed five Kurdish rebels and wounded several in northwestern Iran.

The IRGC managed to destroy the biggest compound of "anti- revolutionary" forces near the northwestern city of Sardasht late Saturday and Sunday, said the reports.
