Fuel sales restrictions have been introduced in Russia's Altai Republic from July 1 to September 1, APA's Russia bureau reports.

At filling stations in Gorno-Altaysk, as well as the Mayminsky and Chemalsky districts of the republic, sales will be limited to 30 liters of gasoline and 50 liters of diesel fuel per person per day.

In the remaining eight districts and municipal areas, the limit will be 50 liters of gasoline and 100 liters of diesel fuel, respectively. Fuel sales in cans will be limited to 10 liters.

According to the head of the republic, Andrey Turchak, the restrictions are being introduced "to avoid artificial panic."
