Clarifying the fate of missing persons remains one of Azerbaijan's highest humanitarian priorities, Secretary of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons and Head of its Working Group Gazanfar Ahmadov said at the international conference titled "Modern Approaches and Strengthening Cooperation in Resolving the Issue of Missing Persons," held within the framework of cooperation with the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), APA reports.

He said Azerbaijan is committed to making use of international experience, modern technologies, and best practices.

Ahmadov noted that the State Commission continues to invest in advanced technologies and databases that enable search operations to be conducted more quickly, effectively, and accurately.

"We plan to procure specialized underground radar observation systems next year. These systems have already been successfully tested in several Scandinavian countries. They make it possible to detect large underground objects, including human remains.

We also plan to introduce a new generation of unmanned aerial vehicles. These systems can remain airborne for extended periods and will be equipped with advanced scanners and sensors to help identify potential search areas and locations of interest.

Another major advantage is their mapping capability. They can map more than 45 square kilometers in a single day.

We believe modern technologies will become an important part of future humanitarian search operations. They will complement the experience and professionalism of our specialists and help us achieve better results in determining the fate of missing persons," Gazanfar Ahmadov said.
