Azerbaijan to hand over remains of six more identified martyrs to families

A total of bone remains belonging to 934 individuals related to the First Karabakh War have so far been received by the Ministry of Health's Forensic Medical Examination and Pathological Anatomy Union, Director of the Union Adalat Hasanov said at the international conference titled "Modern Approaches and Strengthening Cooperation in Resolving the Issue of Missing Persons," held within the framework of cooperation with the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), APA reports.

He said that of the submitted remains, those belonging to 206 individuals were exhumed from unidentified martyrs' graves, while the remains of 79 individuals were exhumed from the graves of martyrs who had been buried without identification in order to verify the grave names.

"The remains of 327 individuals have been identified. The remains of 226 of our martyrs have been handed over to their families from our departments with the decision and participation of the State Commission. Tomorrow, on July 1 and on July 3, the remains of six more of our martyrs will be handed over to their families.

In carrying out all of this work, our staff have held numerous meetings with international organizations, engaged in scientific and practical cooperation with experienced forensic medicine experts from different parts of the world, and participated in courses and training programs," he said.
