Baku-APA. Protesters in Kazakhstan have gathered near the US Consulate General calling for a fair investigation into a fatal police shooting of a fellow citizen in Virginia, APA reports quoting Press TV.

Members of Kazakhstan’s Bolashak movement demand that the policeman who shot Kirill Denyakin be brought to justice.

The movement leader says the protest was arranged after the US did not respond to the letters sent by Kazak citizens.

The protesters have also passed another letter to US President Barack Obama. The letter was accepted and registered by the Consulate representative.

"We are not a banana republic; we live in the independent Kazakhstan. We want every Kazakhstan citizen to know that they will be protected and there are people who will stand up for them, no matter where they are," Bolashak leader Dauren Babamuratov said in mid May.

The Kazakh hotel cook was shot 11 times by US police officer Steven Rankin in Portsmouth, Virginia on April 23.

Police claim that Denyakin was shot because he did not respond to orders.
