Baku-APA. An explosion in the Afghan capital has killed one civilian and wounded several others amid deteriorating security situation in the country, APA reports quoting Press TV.

It happened in a market in a residential neighborhood of Kabul on Tuesday.

The cause of the blast is not known but police say it appears to be either a bomb or hand grenades.

A new wave of attacks has hit Afghanistan since the Taliban announced the start of its spring offensive late last month.

Civilians have sustained heavy casualties in the aftermath of the US-led invasion almost a decade ago. 2010 was the deadliest year for Afghan civilians with more than 2,700 deaths.

This comes as Afghan and foreign forces are falling prey to Taliban militants on nearly a daily basis.

Violence in Afghanistan is on the rise as militants ramped up their long-expected spring offensive.

The security situation has steadily worsened across Afghanistan over the past few years despite the presence of around 150,000 US led foreign troops in the country.
