Heydar Aliyev Foundation presents the projects â€œThe Uzeyirâ€™s Worldâ€ and â€œEncyclopedia of Mugamâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“APA. Heydar Aliyev Foundation has presented the projects â€œThe Uzeyirâ€™s Worldâ€ and â€œEncyclopedia of Mugamâ€ on Wednesday. President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Good Will Ambassador and member of the parliament Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the presentation ceremony, APA reports. Mehriban Aliyeva said Uzeyir Hajibeyov gave a new breath to mugams and founded a new school entitled as mugam opera. The member of the parliament said Uzeyir Hajibeyov was not only the composer, but he was a public figure, pedagogue and publicist. â€œHis â€œLeyli and Majnunâ€ was the first opera in Muslim East and he opened new page in the history of Azerbaijani music with â€œKorogluâ€ operaâ€.
She added that one of the Hajibeyovâ€™s greatest contributions was that he founded the national composersâ€™ school and musical education. Saying that tomorrow is Uzeyir Hajibeyovâ€™s birthday, Mrs. Aliyeva noted that Hajibeyov was a great composer because he always used mugam, the top of Azerbaijani national music. Mehriban Aliyeva said 100th anniversary of â€œLeyli and Majnunâ€ opera was marked by UNESCO and the project â€œThe Uzeyirâ€™s Worldâ€ would contribute to the popularization of the composerâ€™s heritage over the world.
Mrs. Aliyeva said â€œEncyclopedia of Mugamâ€ consisted of two parts. First part contains information about the mugam and the second part â€“ 125 disks, which collected performances of mugam singers beginning from early 20th century until the winners of 2nd mugam contest.
Mugam singers and composers attended the presentation ceremony.
