Greeceâ€™s battle of marathon exhibition in Azerbaijan - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva â€“ APA. An exhibition devoted to 2500th anniversary of Greek battle of marathon was opened today in Baku, APA reports. The exhibition was organized by the Greek embassy in Baku.

Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony the Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ioannis Metaxas said that the battle of marathon as well as the naval Battle of Salamis, which occurred 10 years later â€“ in 480 BC, is the base stone of Greek ancient history: "This date enabled Athenians, Spartans as well as all Greeks to continue living free. If these battles suffered a setback, then, the course of the Greek ancient history would completely be different, and today the ancient Greek civilization would not have been submitted to us as it is."

Of note, the representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan attended at the opening ceremony.
