GÃ©rard Depardieu to act in film in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ulker Gasimova â€“ APA. Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev met with well-known French actor GÃ©rard Depardieu who is visiting Azerbaijan. APA reports that during the meeting minister Abulfas Garayev informed Depardieu about Azerbaijani film sector and told him about the intention to collaborate jointly with France in this sphere. Minister also expressed his pleasure to see Depardieu in Azerbaijan. It became known that Depardieu would act in a film in Azerbaijan. The actor spoke about the production of the documentary film on Alexandre Dumasâ€™ visit to Azerbaijan: â€œI want such a film to be shot. Of course I want to play Dumas myself. There are interesting facts about Alexandre Dumasâ€™ visit to Azerbaijan and his affairs there. After I return I will review all documents which I haveâ€.

Minister Abulfas Garayev also informed Depardieu that Alexandre Dumas and Khurshudbanu Natavan were friends and he said that the film would also cover these parts. Depardieu was glad that he was informed about this fact and he would like Azerbaijani actress to play Natavanâ€™s role: â€œOf course it would be better if Azerbaijani actress plays this role. Maybe this will be so. I am very pleased to be in Azerbaijan, you have a very beautiful city. Interesting historically important buildings, monuments attracted my attention.â€

Garayev said that the film about Alexandre Dumasâ€™ visit to Azerbaijan is considered to be shot in 2-3 years. Within this time different scripts will be prepared in Azerbaijan and sent to Depardieu. In his turn the actor will choose one of the scripts and will carry out the shooting of this film with his film company.

Before the meeting French actor took a walk in Maiden Tower and National Park. The actorâ€™s visit will continue till December 16. After finishing his meeting in Baku he will go to Gabala. Remind that the actor arrived in Azerbaijan on his private plane.
