United States State Department spokesperson Matt Miller expressed on Thursday his country's intention to evacuate American citizens from Gaza if the Rafah Border Crossing, the sole crossing point between Egypt and the Palestinian enclave, opens on October 20, APA reports citing Teletrader.
During a press briefing, Miller stressed that if the Rafah border passage opens "we have told Egypt that we have an interest in getting American citizens out, and it is our interest, it is their interest, it is the interest of every government in the region that humanitarian assistance be provided to the innocent civilian in Gaza who are not a part of this conflict."
The spokesperson also confirmed that 32 Americans have died in Israel and there are still 11 US nationals whose whereabouts are unknown.
