Media: US preparing for operations against Iran that could last for weeks

The U.S. military is preparing for sustained operations against Iran that could last for weeks if President Donald Trump orders an attack, two U.S. officials told Reuters, APA reports.

It was noted that if Trump gives the order to strike, the U.S. military is preparing for potential weekslong operations against Iran.

Officials say that if Trump gives the order, the U.S. military has prepared plans that go beyond a limited strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities and include sustained attacks on state and security targets.

Officials expect Iran to retaliate, increasing the risk of a prolonged exchange and a broader regional conflict.

Recall that the first round of Iran-U.S. talks was held in Oman on February 6.

It is noted that these talks were the first official meeting between the United States and Iran after the 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June.

U.S. officials said yesterday that the Pentagon had sent an additional aircraft carrier to the Middle East.

Donald Trump also noted that a change of power in Iran would be the best outcome.
