Baku-APA. Heavy rains and floods swept the western region of Algeria, inundating several national roads and blocking some railways, APA reports.
In Tlemcen province, some 580 km west of the capital Algiers, national roads 22 and 98 have been inundated and became inaccessible, said a statement released by the National Gendarmerie, according to TSA.
Three national roads crossing the country's southwestern province of El Bayadh were blocked and a bridge collapsed, the source said.
In the western province of Sidi Bel-Abbes, floods blocked five national roads, while in the southwestern province of Naama, floods blocked national road 6, TSA said.
Meanwhile, official APS news agency reported that the National Railways Transport Company (SNTF) announced the suspension of the railway section between Ain Sefra and Beni Ouenif as well as the section between Oran and Bechar due to the inundation.
A weather report issued on Tuesday warned that heavy rains will continue pouring on Tuesday night and Wednesday mostly in the western region of the North African nation.
