Somalia–APA. A Turkish ship “Neslihan”, owned by Istanbul-based YASA Company and seized by pirates off Somalia was released in return for ransom. The ship is sailing towards safe waters of Indian Ocean now. The company officials declined to say how much ransom money was paid. “Neslihan”, which is sailing under the Marshall Islands flag, was transporting 77,000 tons of iron ore from Canada to China when it was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden on October 29. All 20 Turkish crew members were released.
On Wednesday, the Somali pirates also released the French ship “Bourbon Leda” seized off Nigeria on January 3. The ship owners didn’t say how much ransom they paid. The Somali pirates attacked 112 vessels last year and seized 40 of them.
