Azerbaijan is further strengthening its position as an international transport and logistics hub, APA-Economics reports, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
As a result of the development of the East-West and North-South international transport corridors, as well as major infrastructure projects implemented in recent years, the volume of transit transportation exceeded 9.1 million tons in the first seven months of 2026, reaching a record high for the past five years.
This figure is 11.6% higher compared to the same period last year. In particular, the volume of transit freight transportation increased by 16.5% along the East-West route and by 14.3% along the North-South route.
The results achieved reflect the reforms implemented in the transport and logistics sector in recent years, digitalization, infrastructure modernization and the expansion of international cooperation, changes taking place in global trade routes, as well as a significant increase in Azerbaijan's strategic position and competitiveness along the Middle Corridor and North-South corridors.
