On October 24, an event on “Public-Private Partnership and Networking in the Tourism Industry” with the support of the State Tourism Agency and organized by the Karabakh Regional Tourism Department, was held in the city of Khankendi, the Public Relations Department of the Restoration, Construction, and Management Service in Khankendi city, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts told APA’s Karabakh bureau.
Those delivering a speech at the event, which was attended by representatives of the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Khankendi city, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, Karabakh University, as well as representatives of the tourism industry and state bodies operating in Khankendi, Khojaly, Aghdara, Aghdam, and Shusha, emphasized that Karabakh’s rich nature, cultural and historical monuments provide great opportunities for the wide development of tourism in the region. The large-scale restoration and construction work carried out in the territories liberated from occupation creates conditions for the formation of new tourism directions. New public catering facilities, hotels, and restaurants have already started operating in the region, which positively affects the attraction of tourists.
Currently, 37 accommodation facilities operate in the territories included in the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions, 20 of which are located in the city of Khankendi. As a result of the state’s support for the tourism sector, the number of new facilities in this area is increasing day by day. In recent months, both domestic and foreign tourist flows to the region have risen significantly, and more than 500,000 tourists visited the liberated territories during the summer season alone.
All conditions have been created to ensure tourists’ safe and comfortable visits to the region. Through the “Our Way to Karabakh” and “e-Polis” portals, citizens can obtain travel permits online.
It should be noted that in the second part of the event, a panel discussion was held with representatives of state bodies, providing detailed information on the development of public-private partnership in the tourism sector and state support in this direction, and participants’ questions were answered.
At the event, representatives of companies and organizations representing the region’s tourism industry gave presentations on their areas of activity, ongoing initiatives, future plans, and proposals.
