Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan has stated that some information resources operating in the country are trying to present themselves as media entities representing the interests of various communities, acting on behalf of those national minorities, APA reports citing the statement issued by the organization in this regard.
The statement reads:
"Some information resources operating in the Republic of Azerbaijan are trying to present themselves as media entities representing the interests of these national minorities, speaking on behalf of various communities living in the country.
In this regard, we would like to state that all media entities operating in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan must comply with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media" and must be present in the "Media Registry" Information System in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation.
The "Ajmedia.news" website, which presents itself as an information portal established at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Jewish Media Center and public figures of Jewish origin, and does not comply with the requirements of media ethics in the materials it publishes, is not present in the "Media Registry" Information System. In addition, a relevant decision was made by the court regarding the violation of the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media" and its activities were deemed illegal.
We would like to state once again that all media entities, including those operating on behalf of any community or social group and carrying out media activities "Entities conducting such activities must strictly comply with the requirements of the legislation and provide the public with accurate, objective and transparent information about their legal and professional status, field of activity and nature of representation."
