Moscow considers the statements by Armenian Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan regarding Russians to be provocative, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said while commenting on Simonyan’s remarks that Armenia is ready to receive a new wave of Russian citizens seeking to avoid being sent to the front, Russian media reports.
Zakharova noted that these statements were made amid repeatedly refuted speculation about possible mobilization in Russia.
According to her, such statements by Simonyan essentially encourage Russian citizens to engage in illegal actions and give traditional Armenian hospitality a “toxic political undertone.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry official emphasized that Moscow considers Simonyan’s statements provocative.
