One man was killed and three others seriously injured in an explosion at a rented room in northern Vietnam's Phu Tho province on Saturday afternoon, the Vietnam News Agency reports.
The explosion occurred at around 1:10 p.m. in Binh Xuyen commune.
Authorities found multiple firecracker shells and finished firecrackers, along with some yellow and black powders suspected to be materials used to make firecrackers.
An initial investigation indicated that the explosion was linked to the illegal production of firecrackers.
The blast also damaged three rooms and affected several other rented rooms, as well as part of the corrugated metal roof in the building's common courtyard, said the report.
Police are continuing to investigate the case.
