In order to stimulate the flow of tourists to the regions of Azerbaijan, it is planned to improve the transport accessibility of key tourist destinations and tourism information services, as well as introduce mechanisms facilitating the organization and planning of tourist trips, APA-Economics reports.
This is reflected in the Action Plan of the “State Program for the Development of Tourism in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030,” approved by the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated August 20, 2026.
According to the Action Plan, increasing the transport accessibility of key tourist destinations located in the regions, including high-quality road, bus and railway connections, has been set as a goal.
At the same time, it is planned to improve the conditions for organizing tourist trips to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The document also provides for the integration of railway ticket sales into the Global Distribution System (GDS). In addition, the creation of daily, weekly and monthly railway ticket packages for tourists, as well as discounted ticket offers for destinations, is among the upcoming measures.
Furthermore, expanding tourism information services in the regions is one of the identified measures.
Among the expected results outlined in the Action Plan are the efficient use of tourism resources in areas with a special regime, increased accessibility across the regions and improved passenger transportation services.
At the same time, it is expected that conditions for organizing tourist trips to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic by air will be improved and the number of visitors traveling to the regions will increase.
