Azerbaijan makes amendment to several decisions on tourism development in mountainous regions

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA. Goods and materials to be used for tourism infrastructure in mountainous regions located at an altitude of over 1300 meters will be exempt from customs duties and taxes, as well as VAT, said Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers.
In this regard, the Cabinet of Ministers has made supplements to the decisions "On customs duties on export-import operations in the Republic of Azerbaijan" and "On the list of goods exempted from value added tax on import into the territory of the Azerbaijan Republic".
The measures are taken with a view to promoting tourism development in mountain regions and the development of these areas by encouraging investment and entrepreneurship in the tourism sector.
According to the additions, if the needs are not met through the use of domestic raw materials, materials necessary for the implementation of investment projects in tourism regions located at an altitude of over 1300 meters are exempt from customs duties and taxes.
Ministry of Culture and Tourism, State Customs Committee and Ministry of Economic Development are tasked to regularly control the use of imported materials for the initial purposes.
