TEAS introduces foreign language web resources in new concept and format

TEAS told APA that declaration of 2013 as “The Year of ICT” in Azerbaijan played an important role in the formation of these web resources that were established to contribute to promoting Azerbaijan in the world and increasing its international influence.

TEAS web portal - www.teas.eu serves as an updating information database of Azerbaijan for foreign audiences. Detailed materials about the history, culture, foreign policy, economy of Azerbaijan and its crucial problem of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict have been posted on the portal. Presentation of the materials in six languages - English, Russian, French, German and Turkish expanded the geography of its users. The views of politicians, scientists and culture figures, who know the region well, about Azerbaijan will be available through online videos on the portal. As a result of it, TEAS website having a large number of users has been one of the major information bases about Azerbaijan all over the world. This web resource is being constantly updated, enriched with the application of innovations of the information technology. It is also planned to present it in other languages.

www.visions.az, the website of the Vision of Azerbaijan magazine, which was founded by TEAS in 2006 and is playing the role of the English-language information base in raising awareness about Azerbaijan’s truths, is the biggest internet resource about the country.

More than a thousand scientific-publicistic articles released in rubrics such as Topical, Nagorno Karabakh, Diaspora, History, Culture, Literature, Environmental, Travel and Tourism create objective impression about Azerbaijan. The dynamics of the website proves that it is one the major English-language resources on Azerbaijan.

TEAS is also carrying out activities to enhance the use of information technologies. Currently, the Society is implementing two more projects to promote Azerbaijan all over the world. English-language information portal on Nagorno Karabakh conflict will be one of the largest internet resources on this topic. Development and launch of another internet portal “Virtual Azerbaijan Academy” will be a new event in the Internet. Through this website, foreigners taking interest in Diaspora and Azerbaijan will be able to get distance education on the Azerbaijani language, history and culture.
