Earlier, some media outlets reported that the patient with diabetes Tarlan Mammadova, 82, who was diagnosed with amputation of the left leg, was operated in the Angiology and Microsurgical Center of the Health Ministry on June 24. However, after the completion of the operation, the patient’s relatives did not believe their eyes when they saw that her healthy right leg was amputated instead of the inflamed left leg.

In his statement to APA, the doctor said that both legs of the patient are 4th grade of atherosclerotic chronic ischemia, and gangrene has damaged the woman’s both legs.

“Therefore, the woman’s left leg was to be amputated first. To save the patient's life, she underwent emergency surgery. However, her right left was cut off by mistake. I explained to the patient’s relatives that both legs needed to be amputated. No hospital admitted them. However, we gave consent to the operation. I reiterate that both legs of the patients needed to be amputated,” Karimov said.
