Baku. Ali Ahmadov - APA-Economics. For the first time, a laboratory for conduction of genetically modified food experiments has been established in Azerbaijan, said spokesman for the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patent Fazil Talibov, APA-Economics reports.
To him, employees of the lab were trained in foreign countries and provided with the international certificates: ‘The laboratory is fully operational now’.
Besides, Talibov expressed concern over absence of legislative act in this sphere: ‘It would be better to adopt a draft law on GM foods in the near future. Such draft law has been established on the basis of the international project’.
Talibov noted that absence of appropriate regulatory normative act hinders the control in this sphere.
