Health Ministry spokesman Anar Gadirli said that although 41 facts of maternal death in 141 901 childbirths were recorded in 2005, 26 such facts in 173 547 childbirths were recorded in 2012. In 2013, 24 facts of maternal death in about 175 000 childbirths were recorded. 224 354 pregnant women were recorded in 2012, 228 372 in 2013.
In 2014, every large clinic will launch its own website, which will facilitate contacts between citizens and hospitals.
Chief of Baku City Health Department Elmira Aliyeva gave information about the report of the World Health Organization on caesarean section: “At present, caesarean delivery all over the world is 14-15 per cent, while in Azerbaijan it is 18 per cent.”
