APA reports quoting UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) that 20 countries from Africa, Asia and Latin America have met part of the first the Millennium Development Goals which calls on Member States to halve by 2015 the proportion of people who suffer from hunger. 18 countries also reached the more stringent World Food Summit Goal of reducing by half the absolute number of undernourished people. Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and Turkmenistan are among the countries meeting both targets. In 2000, leaders from 189 nations signed on to the Millennium Development Goals.
