Criminal case launched on fact of mother's death in Azerbaijan

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. The criminal case has been launched on the fact of Huseynova Maral Umidvar’s death in Azerbaijan Republican Perinatal Center during cesarian operation.

Lawyer Javad Javadli told APA that forensic medical examination has been performed on the fact. The expert opinion says that the death was caused by medical negligence. Khatai District Prosecutor’s Office has launched a criminal case on the fact under article #314.2 (in case of negligence causing serious consequences) of the Criminal Code.

The investigation is underway.

A mother and her baby died in Azerbaijan Republican Perinatal Center on May 14.

26-year old Huseynova Maral Umidvar died during cesarian operation. Her uncle Etibar Fataliyev told APA that Maral preparing to become mother for the third time was 5 months pregnant.

Health Ministry's press service told APA that 26-year old resident of NZS settlement Huseynova Maral had previously underwent operations twice during childbirth. As her condition deteriorated, she was immediately operated on May 14. Despite the measures taken, it was impossible to save the mother. Mother's diagnosis was obstetric complications. The case on the fact has been transferred to a medical examination.
