Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on Agrarian Policy discussed on Tuesday a new bill proposing new Article â„–15-1 (advertising of wine products) to the Law “On viticulture and winemaking”.

APA reported that the new article bans the advertising of wine products in following advertising media:

Advertising of wine products with more than 5% alcohol content is prohibited via telecommunications facilities, on front and back covers of periodicals and in homepages of online information resources;

- on publications and in audio and video materials intended for minors;

The new article also prohibits the advertising of wine products with more than 5 percent alcohol content in open spaces.

Advertising campaigns accompanied by distribution and tasting of samples of wine products are allowed in retail outlets and tasting rooms in specialized exhibitions. In these advertising campaigns, minors cannot be distributed wine products for free and offered samples of alcoholic beverages for tasting.

Advertising of wine products with 5% alcoholic content shall be accompanied with warning that its excessive use is detrimental to health. This warning shall cover not less 10 percent of the advertising.
