Azerbaijan is recognized worldwide as a strong sports hub for successfully hosting major global sporting events, Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov said at the opening ceremony of the 21st Men's and 12th Women's World Championships in Fire and Rescue Sport, held in Baku, APA reports.
The minister said that the upcoming competitions would become a shining example of high sporting excellence, fair competition, and mutual respect.
"At the same time, they will create important opportunities for participants to exchange experience and strengthen professional ties. We believe that the development of this sport will contribute to promoting a healthy lifestyle, enhancing the prestige of the firefighting profession, as well as increasing the younger generation's interest in sports and serving society.
Sporting events of this level create additional opportunities to strengthen cooperation between countries, share best practices, and develop professional interaction. I wish each of you confidence in your abilities, endurance, a strong competitive spirit, and successful results," the minister noted.
