A ceremony was held in Baku to mark the 72nd anniversary of the Algerian Revolution, APA reports.
The event was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ziyafat Asgarov, Deputy Minister of Energy Kamal Abbasov, diplomats, public and political figures, and media representatives.
The event began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Algeria.
Algerian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zakia Ighil emphasized in her speech that Algeria and Azerbaijan play an important role in ensuring regional and international energy security.
"This shared position creates broad opportunities to further deepen our partnership in hydrocarbons, natural gas, petrochemicals, and renewable energy. In this regard, we welcome the approval this year of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Oil and Gas Sector, which provides an important foundation for strengthening cooperation between our relevant institutions and state energy companies, particularly Sonatrach and SOCAR," the ambassador noted.
She drew attention to the importance of establishing a Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the two countries.
"We look forward to the first meeting of the Commission, scheduled to be held in Baku in the first half of 2027, as an important opportunity to translate our shared political will into concrete partnerships in trade, investment, industry, agriculture, education, science, and culture to serve the mutual interests of our peoples," Zakia Ighil stated.
Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ziyafat Asgarov spoke about the history, current state, and future prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria.
The ceremony continued with a cultural program.
It should be noted that November 1, 1954, is commemorated as the anniversary of the beginning of the Algerian Revolution.
