"Georgia's European path remains open if the country's authorities change their course," European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said while presenting the 2026 enlargement package at the European Parliament, APA's local bureau reports.
According to her, the ruling party in Georgia continues to undermine the country's European path through persistent attacks on democratic principles, the rule of law, and fundamental rights.
The commissioner noted that the space for civil society activities in Georgia has become even more restricted.
"The responsibility to change the situation and start a new chapter lies entirely with the Georgian authorities," Marta Kos added.
