The Pardon Issues Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has rejected allegations of the pardon for a different person whose name was not in the list, instead of one who was actually listed to be pardoned under the presidential order dated 16 March 2017/
The information was unfounded and not based on any official source because the aforementioned order has been published in legal newspapers, as well as in the State Registration of Legal Acts. As can be seen in the order, the pardoned person is Mahmudov Elvin Habil oglu, the Commission told APA.
The commission added that it has also considered pardoning prisoner Mahmudov Elvin Bakhtiyar oglu.
It was revealed that a criminal case has been opened over a brawl that erupted among prisoners on 8 October 2016 in the Penitentiary Service’s jail No.13, where Mahmudov is being kept. In connection with the investigation into the criminal case, Mahmudov and some prisoners were transferred to an investigation isolator. The investigation is going on.
Due to the fact that there was a need for additional inspection by the Commission, the consideration of an appeal by Elvin Mahmudov was postponed.
