Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. Under the decision passed by the Cabinet of Ministers on December 27, 2013, the maximum upper limit of weekly working hours of teachers in all types of schools, secondary schools, gymnasiums and lyceums, vocational schools and lyceums, sports and art schools and circles has been raised to 36 hours from 24 hours.

The Ministry of Education told APA that the order “On determination of teaching load for teaching staff at educational establishments” issued by the Cabinet of Ministers on November 24, 2010 envisaged 24-hour maximum upper limit of weekly working hours of teachers. But experience has shown that as a result of the distribution of 24-hour weekly teaching load, in most cases, up to 12 hours were vacant. Part of this teaching load was taught by subject teachers without payment, which caused their fair discontent. The relevant international practice shows that in the general education system in many countries, only minimum limit (one week) to teaching load is set, but maximum limit is not applied.

For the minimum teaching load (12 hours per week), the minimum monthly salary of teacher with higher education, depending on work record, is AZN 155 (on the 10th qualifying category) and the maximum monthly salary AZN 207 (on the 15th qualifying category).
