Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. Azerbaijan’s Health Ministry has created a special commission over the death of a patient placed in an emergency medical aid hospital in the country’s Sumgayit city.
Safaya Ahmadova, an official of the Health Ministry, told APA that the commission will investigate the causes of the death and if the doctor had guilt in the patient’s death, necessary action will be taken against him.
81-year-old doctor Jafar Guliyev, who operated on Lumu Veyisova (1981), has been suspended from medical practice and operations.
The ministry official also explained why the 81-year-old doctor has been employed to this day, saying a doctor is permitted to continue to work if he/she has a scientific title and achievements. For this reason, renowned expert Jafar Guliyev has worked to date because he has awarded the order “Shohrat” (Glory) and has long worked as a teacher at Medical University.
Ahmadova said that the patient was taken to the Sumgayit emergency medial aid hospital on June 26.
“Since the patient diagnosed with gallbladder decay, the surgeon performed an emergency operation, fearing that the gallbladder may rupture. When the patient was brought to the hospital, her bile duct crammed and her abdominal cavity was in bad situation. During the operation, the patient’s gall bladder was removed. Then the gallbladder bed started bleeding. Despite all the efforts, the patient, who stayed in the hospital for 3 days, died on June 29,” said the ministry official.
The deceased’s relatives blame the surgeon for the death, claiming that as the doctor was old, his hands trembled and he cut the patient’s artery, resulting in bleeding.
