Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. Tarlan Mammadova, 87, has been registered with severe popliteal artery stenosis of both legs, shank arterial occlusion (blockage) and diabetic gangrene for years, Azer Shamsaddinski, director of Angiology and Microsurgical Center of the Health Ministry, told APA.

According to him, as the patient is very energetic, she was allowed to be operated.

“I even told her before surgery that her health is good and she would be able to walk 4-5 days after operation. Physician Valeh Karimov operated her. He came and told me after the surgery that he made a mistake. Then he left the hospital. Valeh Karimov’s activity has been temporarily suspended by the center,” he said.

The Health Ministry’s Angiology and Microsurgical Center has today held a consultation together with medical experts and members of the expert commission. Results of the consultation were discussed.

Head of the relevant special commission created in the Health Ministry, the republic’s chief surgeon Hajigulu Baghirov told APA that expert opinion will be known on Monday. Then public will be given detailed information.

Patient with diabetes Tarlan Mammadova, 87, who was diagnosed with amputation of the left leg, was operated in the Angiology and Microsurgical Center of the Health Ministry on June 24. 87-year-old woman’s healthy right leg was amputated instead of the inflamed left leg.

Health Ministry has created a special commission to investigate the wrong amputation case.
