According to Hasanov, $450 million assistance has been allocated by the U.S. non-governmental organizations. The largest assistance to Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs has been provided by the U.S. NGOs.
The Committee chairman informed about Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and its consequences and stressed that 1,200,000 Azerbaijanis have become refugees and IDPs.
Ambassador Richard Morningstar, regional coordinator of the State Department's Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration Joshua Fischel, Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy to Azerbaijan Dereck Hogan and representative of the military cooperation office of the embassy Bob Peters highly assessed the rapid economic development in Azerbaijan and activities carried out to improve the social conditions of refugees and IDPs. Noting that Washington always pays attention to the improvement of the social conditions of refugees and IDPs, the guests stressed that they are ready to participate in the relevant projects.
