Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) and the United Nations Development Programme have today signed a memorandum on “Socio-economic reintegration program for victims of mines” in Baku, APA reports.
ANAMA Director Nazim Ismayilov said that the memorandum aims to assist mine victims: “3 million people have suffered from mines, 500 of them died since 1992 in Azerbaijan. Currently, ANAMA is working on reintegration of mine victims. The signed program envisages provision of micro-credits for mine victims to start a business.”
UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan Antonius Broek noted that the new phase of cooperation with the UNDP covers transformation of ANAMA to international mine action center. The will allocate $136 100 to the Program.
