"Delta-M and Omicro among children and adolescents aged 5-14 has increased. The Omicron variant has not been found in Azerbaijan yet, the statement came from WHO Representative in Azerbaijan Hande Harmanci at a meeting at the Ganja Executive Power today, APA reports.
According to Ganja Executive Power, WHO representative praised the work done in Ganja within the fight against COVID-19. She noted the benefits of preventive measures such as the use of medical masks, social distance and vaccinations are being seen. Observations show that deaths are significantly reduced in areas where the vaccination process is widespread. H. Harmanci said that although the first dose is important, the vaccine shows its effect after the second dose.
Hande Harmanci stressed the importance of vaccination, especially for those at risk. He noted that health workers, people aged 65 and over, as well as pregnant women should be vaccinated: "Recently, experts have been saying that pregnant women should also be vaccinated."
