"There is still much to end of the pandemic (COVID-19)," Hans Kluge, Regional Director Nominee WHO Regional Office for Europe told APA.
He commented on his thoughts that said a while ago that the Omicron strain of the coronavirus could end the pandemic in Europe: "We must be very vigilant. I did not say that the pandemic would end, I just said that there is hope that it will end. I have said that we must be optimistic. Why?! There are three factors for this. First, in countries where Omicron is widespread, general immunity has emerged due to either vaccination or infection. The second factor is related to the seasonality because the winter is already over. The third factor is that full vaccinated people experience mild symptoms of Omicron".
According to the WHO official, these factors may lead to experience mild symptoms of the disease in the summer season.
