Suspects in the assassination attempt on Azerbaijani MP arrested

The 4 suspects in an assassination attempt on Azerbaijani MP Fazil Mustafa were arrested, APA reports.

Judge Ulviyya Shukurova ruled over the case, which saw three people jailed at the Sabail District Court for 4 months and one person sentenced to 3 months.

Note that at 9:51 p.m. on March 28, 2023, a terrorist act was committed against Mustafa Fazil Gazanfar oghlu, a deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, by firing a Kalashnikov automatic weapon in front of his house—in Baku city, Sabunchu district, Zabrat-1 settlement, Babek street house 2 "Z".

Fazil Mustafa was shot in the right shoulder girdle and the lower third of his right thigh as a result of the terrorist act.

In relation to the fact, in the main investigative department of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, articles 277 of the Criminal Code (attempt on the life of a state official or public figure in order to end his service or political activity or to exact revenge for this activity) and 228.2.1 of the Criminal Code (attempt on the life of a state official or public figure in order to end his service or political activity or to exact revenge for this activity (in advance a criminal case was initiated by a group of people who were in collusion with the articles of illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, and transportation of firearms, their complete parts, ammunition).
