US billionaire Elon Musk has said the Starlink satellite communications system should not be used for offensive operations, APA reports.
In a post on X, Musk said such use increases the risk of Starlink satellites being targeted in retaliatory strikes.
“The destruction of Starlink satellites could trigger a devastating domino effect, creating a vast field of debris in space. This would make space unusable,” he said.
Musk made the remarks in response to another user’s post about the risks of possible attacks on satellites.
He said Starlink could support the operation of military infrastructure. However, he argued that its direct use in offensive operations could turn the satellites into legitimate targets for retaliation.
