Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic conceded defeat in the country's parliamentary election on Sunday, despite stating he does not have official results, APA reports.
However, he noted it was "clear" that the Student List defeated his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and that no other party, except the minority parties, will be represented in parliament.
Vucic accused Europe and the American "deep state" of being behind the student-led movement and claimed the new government will impose sanctions on Russia by spring. He also said he expects to be a "target of persecution" but that he is "not afraid."
According to projections, the turnout was over 69%, which represents the highest turnout since 2000. Some voting irregularities and violent incidents were reported at several polling stations throughout the day, with one man being arrested on suspicion of a reported attack on Vucic's mother.
