US President Donald Trump has said he believes Denmark’s government agreed to place Greenland under US control, APA reports.
Trump made the remarks while addressing Republican supporters in Georgia.
“By the way, Denmark was great. They gave us Greenland,” he said.
In September, Trump signed an agreement with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
The agreement provides for the transfer to Washington of responsibilities for ensuring the Arctic island’s security.
