Nigeria’s state radio speaks out on threat to world from Armenia

The state radio of Nigeria Sobi 101.9 FM Ilorin published material on the danger to the world caused by the environmental consequences of Armenia's illegal mining industry. APA reports.

The editor and presenter of radio Dare Akogun urged Armenia to cease its illegal mining works in his material titled “NGOs from 22 countries speak out on environmental justice for South Caucasus region”.

The "Sobi 101.9 FM Ilorin" is popular, especially among youngsters in Nigeria, it has been declared the best radio station of the year several times, and it also broadcasts in English and local languages.

Recall that recently, a coalition of 49 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and environmental activists spanning 22 countries have come together to issue a statement addressing environmental harm resulting from mining activities in the Republic of Armenia being carried out in violation of international environmental norms and standards. It was noted in the statement that the United Nations recognizes a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment as a fundamental human right. Foreign NGOs have expressed their solidarity with the appeal of non-government organizations of Azerbaijan and Armenia on the immediate suspension of works at the Amuldagh mine. In the statement, the Armenian government and the private companies operating in Armenia's mining industry were urged to open the doors of all facilities to international experts specialized in the field of ecology and health, including specialized NGOs from neighboring countries to allow them to inspect the facilities, evaluate and conduct monitoring, taking appropriate samples, and measuring. Recently, several environmental and health-oriented NGOs and eco-activists in Nigeria have been addressing open messages of support to the people of Azerbaijan and opposing Armenia's poisoning the ecology of the South Caucasus.
