"Measles, rubella, and other infectious diseases are more widespread in underdeveloped countries," Ismail Serageldin, Co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, said during the next panel discussion titled "Global Health Crisis: New Frontiers in Preparedness and Equity" at the 12th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
He noted that in order to prevent pandemics like COVID-19 from recurring, the necessary global measures must be further expanded: “There must be active efforts against measles, rubella, and other infectious diseases spreading worldwide. These diseases are particularly widespread in underdeveloped countries. Global health monitoring is also one of the important factors. At the same time, I must say that a few years ago, I could not have imagined pandemics spreading so widely. I believe we need to increase the funding allocated to global health so that countries can fight pandemics more effectively. Many people lost their lives to COVID-19 worldwide. If we do not want this to happen again, we must expand our efforts.”
