Baku – APA. Leaders of the United Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (UAPFP) have today visited the monument to the memory of the Turkish soldiers and officers killed while liberating Baku and other Azerbaijani territories from Armenian military units. UAPFP press service told APA that the party representatives laid a wreath in front of the monument.

Chairman of the United Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev said the brave Turkish soldiers, who participated in the liberation of Azerbaijan from Armenian army units, will never been forgotten.

“The brave Turkish soldiers and officers, who prevented the genocide against the Azerbaijani people, supported our fight for independence, will always be remembered. The events of 1918, killing of tens of thousands of civil Muslim Turks and the representatives of national minorities by Armenian armed units, prevention of atrocious crimes by brave Turkish soldiers and officers prove that Turks always fulfilled rescue mission. Turkish soldiers and officers have saved from Armenian brutality not only their compatriots, but also other nations living there,” he said.

At the end, Gudrat Hasanguliyev underlined the importance of perpetuating the Turkish soldiers’ memory: “A monument to Nuru Pasha should be erected at the one of the central squares of Baku and future generations should take an example from Azerbaijani-Turkish brotherhood and historical heroes, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of humanity.”

For the first time, in 2005 UAPFP chairman, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev was put forward an initiative to celebrate every April 24 as a Remembrance Day of the Liberator Turkish Soldier. Since that day, the party members celebrate this day on April 24 every year.
