Baku. Anakhanum Hidayatova – APA. The presentation of the project “Supporting the establishment of effective readmission management in South Caucasus” is being held in Baku. APA reports that the project is being implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), State Migration Service of Azerbaijan and the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan with the financial assistance of EU.
24-month project with total budget of €1,492,457 will be implemented by the International Organization for Migration in the three countries of the South Caucasus. The project aims to establish and develop the mechanism of effective readmission management in each of the three countries.
The project aims to assist in signing readmission agreements, providing further technical assistance to the governments and to support the sustainable reintegration of return migrants into the local society.
In Azerbaijan, the project will cover three areas:
-Assisting in the establishment of effective management system of readmission cases;
- Capacity building for management of migrant centers
-Assisting in creating effective institutional mechanisms for reintegration of return migrants.
During the implementation of the project in Azerbaijan, the International Organization for Migration will cooperate with several state partners – the State Migration Service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Azerbaijan and civil society. Moreover, sharing their experiences with partners in the South Caucasus, the Department of Federal Immigration of Belgium, the Repatriation and Departure Service of the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice and the Polish Interior Ministry will act as partners at the seminars on readmission and voluntary return and their training visits.
