Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. The number of the people registered with diabetes in Azerbaijan increased by 3.6 times over the last 10 years.
The Ministry of Health told APA that as a part of the program of measures for diabetes, for the first time in the country, all patients were distributed free devices for self-monitoring - blood glucose meters and test systems and patients' long-term medicine problems were solved.
In this regard, identification of diabetic patients was improved and compared to 2003, the number of registered patients increased by 3.6 times and reached 180 000 people. As a result of it, the death rate due to diabetes decreased from 21.7 to 7.5 per 100,000 people.
